『天鵝絨的鼓手是女的！』沒錯，何穎怡說的是，我就是那種聽了VU一段日
子後，才被嚇到的樂迷。1969年VU的第三張專輯
後， 莫琳．塔克（Maureen Tucker）才開始在樂團中有長髮女裝的打扮。當
我第一次看到這個時期的照片時，想說VU怎麼多了一個“媽媽桑“，我以為
她就是那個新加入的Doug Yule，咦～她怎麼在打鼓啊？哇...

  天鵝絨裡，這是莫琳塔克擔任獨唱的曲子，也是唯一的一首（另一首I*m
Sticking With You裡，她只在Lou Reed歌聲出現前唱了一小段）。她的嗓音有點
生澀，可以聽得出來，她那時對自己唱歌還不太有自信，“下班後“只有Reed
的空心吉他伴奏，我在猜莫琳那時可能希望去打打鼓。然而，在這首歌裡，她是
非常吸引人的，麥克風收音器就在她的嘴邊，即使透過cd在三十年後的複製，
也不會感到任何的距離與偽裝。她就在妳的耳邊唱著。

  『選擇做一個母親，你必須放棄許多東西。我曾試過跟團巡迴演唱一個半月，
但是孩子與年邁的母親都受不了。奶瓶、尿布、接送小孩上下學...，這些都非
常不“搖滾樂“！』莫琳塔克說。（何穎怡,女人在唱歌, 台北：萬象,1997, p105）

 莫琳後來經歷了一段不幸的婚姻，在John Cale和Lou Reed馳騁樂壇之際，
她的生活是蠻慘的（Nico也是）。我非常好奇，莫琳媽媽這樣的性格特質，
年輕時是如何風雲際會地加入avant-garde的VU？當Nico成為第一張專輯
所有鎂光燈的焦點時，她在想甚麼？在地下天鵝絨的這幾年中，她是如何與
樂團老大Reed和Cale相處？有了甚麼轉變？她為甚麼會從湯姆男孩變成媽
媽？

 Maureen Tucker讓我想起九○年代同樣是鼓手，但在Yo La Tengo唱了很多歌
的Georgia Hubley。
